National Ploughing Championships

20th - 22nd Sept, Screggan, Tullamore, Co. Offaly

The National Championships, now in its 85th year, features something for just about every member of the community. These include a Tented Trade Village, a Food Fair, Craft Village, Livestock, Forestry, Education, Lifestyle, Motor Show, Financial Services, Bio Energy and Agri Service. Along with this, there are many entertainment and special events taking place. Some of these include: Fashion Shows, Celebrity Guests, Sheep Dog Trials, Loy Digging, All Ireland Lamb Shearing, Most Appropriately Dressed Lady & Gent Competitions, Craft Demonstrations, Meggers, Celebrity Cookery Demonstrations, Outdoor Radio Broadcasts and much more.

The Science Foundation Ireland tent will also return with a full list of activities across the three days. You can find us in Stand 313 Row 13 from 9am until 6pm. Exhibition Map 2016

  • Smart Futures will have a stand for students and parents to chat about future careers in STEM
  • The Smartphone Microscopes are back, running every hour in the workshop area.
  • Physics Buskers will be entertaining the masses with interactive experiments and demonstrations selected for maximum engagement, excitement and education.
  • Phillip and Tom from the RTÉ science series Insiders will be on the main stage each day along with Scientific Sue who will be running her Litter Lab show.
  • On both Monday and Wednesday afternoon at 3pm  RTÉ will host a panel discussion with a different meteorologist and agri scientist featured each day.
  • The 12 SFI Research Centres will also return with workshops, exhibitions and the APC Microbiome's ever popular Inflatable Gut
